Meet Gladys

At 103, Gladys is an inspiring figure. Growing up in Cuba, she favored books over dolls and aspired to be a doctor like her father. She studied medicine and teaching at the Universidad de La Habana and served her community for 22 years, earning the nickname “La Leona entre Leones.” After moving to the U.S. in 1968, she recertified her medical degree and practiced for an additional 27 years, totaling nearly 50 years as a physician. Avidly reading and traveling, she has explored many places with her granddaughters. Now, she spends time between Miami and Lake Worth, helping her great-grandchildren with Spanish and enjoying arts and crafts. Gladys exemplifies grace, perseverance, and fortitude.
