Jorge’s story creates a meaningful change.

Jorge has been part of Easterseals South Florida since childhood, attending the program alongside his siblings, Neymar and Angelina. Over the years, he has navigated academic challenges, socio-emotional development needs, and periods of family instability. In his early years, Jorge often struggled with self-esteem and confidence. He required reassurance, had difficulty staying focused, and frequently viewed situations through a negative lens. Despite these challenges, the Easterseals team remained committed to meeting him where he was, providing consistent structure, encouragement, and individualized support that helped him make steady progress over time.

His participation in Easterseals South Florida’s Workforce Development Program, supported by Coca-Cola funding, has been central to this growth. Through individualized job coaching, resume development, career exploration, and workplace readiness training, Jorge has developed both technical and personal skills that have prepared him for emerging employment opportunities. He has become more receptive to feedback, more confident in expressing his needs, and more engaged in both academic and work-related environments. He has also developed barista skills and supported his sister in her entrepreneurial efforts, strengthening his teamwork, responsibility, and initiative.

Building on this progress, Jorge recently began an internship at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, marking an important step toward his goal of securing meaningful employment. Through this experience, he has continued strengthening workplace readiness skills, including communication, professionalism, and adaptability in a real-world setting. He also earned his Food Handler Certificate, further reinforcing his preparedness for future employment opportunities.

Today, Jorge is growing into a more confident and capable young adult who is learning to advocate for himself, build on his strengths, and pursue meaningful opportunities for his future. His journey reflects the importance of individualized support, mentorship, and access to workforce development pathways that help young people move from uncertainty to readiness and toward independence.
