Meet David

David, a 19-year-old student with Autism, has made significant progress at the Easterseals Culinary Arts High School program since enrolling in middle school. Initially timid and reluctant to socialize or try new experiences, he has transformed into an excellent student who takes pride in his work and demonstrates outstanding manners. Recently, he completed a six-month internship at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and gained barista skills for the school’s coffee cart. David has learned to use public transportation independently, engages in conversations in English and Spanish, and participates enthusiastically in school activities. He enjoys culinary arts and plans to work as a chef's aide at a bakery or South American restaurant after graduation. His future looks promising as he continues to develop his skills.
