Paul is a founding member of Fleit Intellectual Property Law, having joined the firm in 2001 when he moved to South Florida. His practice focuses on all aspects of patent and trademark law for clients including startups, the federal government, research universities, and large corporations. Although the firm does not litigate, Paul works closely with litigation counsel, consulting on patent and trademark matters.
Paul also has extensive experience in patent appeals and post-grant proceedings before the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and trademark appeals, oppositions, and cancellations before the USPTO’s Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Before joining the firm, Paul was an associate with Pennie and Edmonds in Washington, DC. Paul received his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the Georgetown University Law Center and a Ph.D. in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He completed post-doctoral research at the Food and Drug Administration.
Paul is an adjunct faculty member at two different universities and is a frequent lecturer to companies, universities, and organizations on intellectual property and related engineering issues. He is also a former Chair of the Board of Directors of Easterseals South Florida.
