He was previously a Senior Global Client Service Partner (GCSP) and Strategy & Transactions (SaT) Leader at Ernst & Young (EY), based in Miami. He served as GCSP for several of EY’s largest clients, including an EY G360 account, and has extensive experience leading global, cross-border transactions.
Hector has held numerous leadership roles at EY, including Miami Office Managing Partner, TAS Florida Markets Leader, member of the Americas Diversity & Inclusiveness Steering Committee, and Americas Emerging Services Development Leader, where he focused on developing new services, driving innovation, and guiding strategic investments for the Americas TAS practice.
A founding member of EY’s Latin America Transaction Practice, Hector has worked on more than 250 due diligence assignments for transactions ranging from several hundred million dollars to over $25 billion. His experience spans a wide range of industries, including advertising and media, engineering and construction, beverages, consumer products, distribution and logistics, manufacturing, retail, restaurants, sugar, transportation (air, maritime, rail, trucking), technology, and telecommunications. He has extensive knowledge of US GAAP, UK GAAP, IFRS, and country-specific GAAP where applicable.
Hector is a Certified Public Accountant with more than two decades of accounting and business experience. He earned a Bachelor of Accounting from Florida International University and a Master of Professional Accounting with honors from the University of Miami. He is fluent in English and Spanish and proficient in Portuguese.
He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Cuban-American Certified Public Accountants Association (CACPA)—where he previously served as President—the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA), and the Florida and Georgia Institutes of CPAs. Hector is also a graduate of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) Leadership Miami program and serves on multiple community boards, including the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation President’s Cabinet, Easterseals South Florida Board of Directors, After-School All-Stars Board of Directors, FIU Dean’s Council, University of Miami Citizens Board Executive Committee, Orange Bowl Committee Executive Committee and Treasurer, and the ALPFA National Corporate Advisory Board (CAB).
