George retired as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of MasTec, Inc. He joined MasTec in February 2013 as Chief Financial Officer of Operations.
Prior to joining MasTec, George served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Stuart Weitzman Holdings, LLC (“Stuart Weitzman”), formerly a portfolio company of Irving Place Capital, from 2007 to 2013. During his tenure, Stuart Weitzman was sold to The Jones Group. From April 2002 to June 2007, George held several senior leadership roles at Perry Ellis International, one of the leading apparel companies in the United States, including Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from 2004 to 2007 and Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning from 2002 to 2004.
From 1989 to 2002, George served in a variety of financial and operational roles, including Chief Financial Officer, at Sunglass Hut International. Prior to his tenure at Sunglass Hut International, George was a Senior Audit Manager with Arthur Andersen LLP in Miami, Florida. From January 2008 through February 2010, he also served as a Special Advisor to Atlas Acquisitions Holding Corp., a special purpose acquisition corporation.
George earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Miami and has been a Certified Public Accountant for over 30 years.
George has served on the board of Easterseals South Florida since 2011 and also serves on the advisory board for the University of Miami School of Accounting.
