President and CEO of Easter Seals South Florida, Luanne Welch, presents Florida Congressman Kendrick Meek with a certificate of appreciation for voting to pass the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) bill. SCHIP is often the only insurance option for children whose families do not qualify for Medicaid and cannot afford private coverage. Voting for SCHIP is a vote on behalf of millions of children and will provide many local families with the help and support that might otherwise not be available to them.
